The City of Olean Fire Department Local 1796 is proud to present one of the largest fireworks displays in the Southern Tier. Young Fireworks of Rochester, New York provides our spectacular fireworks show. The fireworks are paid for through community donations ONLY! No money is budgeted for this event and no tax dollars are used. To continue to have high quality shows, the entire community needs to donate. Each year we have to raise approximately $20,000.00. To raise that money, we hold two hot dog sales and The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce holds several Dress Down Days. If your place of business is interested in holding a dress down day, please contact the Greater Olean Chamber of Commerce. Also, if your business would like to make donations for our hot dog sales, they are always welcome! Donations for the 4th of July Fireworks are accepted year round. Donations may be mailed to OPFFA Fireworks, P.O. Box 114, Olean, NY 14760, or they can be dropped off in person at 542 North Union Street.

We are looking for a few volunteers to go around to various locations on the 4th of July to collect donations for the fireworks. You will be back in time to watch the fireworks with your families! Some of the locations include, the river dikes (south side and north side), war vets park, forness park, East View Elementary School field, Olean Center Mall, and BOCES just to name a few. If you are interested in helping, please contact Firefighter Dan Gonska at dan@iafflocal1796.com. Pending the number of volunteers that we get, there will be a short meeting at a later date. Shirts and Name badges will also be handed out as well.
